Are you fucking kidding me? No one should be forced to go to church or to do any kind of religious activity. In fact forcing someone to take part in any kind of religious activity is unconstitutional, even if the person would have done it anyway. Yes, he’s on probation for 10 years, but is that really enough? I somewhat agree that just because one kid lost their life doesn’t mean another kid’s life should also be ruined. However he was drinking and driving and did cause someone to die, was that punishment really enough? Will he really learn from this punishment? I acknowledge that there is no good solution here though. It really depends on the this kid. In situations like this it is a huge wake up call for some kids and they change and other just continue on the same path they were on before.
Another way to look at it is to bring the drug war into it. This kid caused someone else to die and he is basically just getting probation. How many thousands of 17 year olds have gotten arrested just for possession? Many of them have gotten jail time. However you feel about drugs, does it make sense that someone could get jail time for possession, whichever drug it may be, but if they are drinking and cause someone to die they just get probation?

TV shows like Toddlers & Tiaras, Honey Boo Boo, Teen Mom, 16 and Pregnant and BUCKWILD (among many others) make me doubt the nations youth. They seem to be getting dumber and are proud of it. But then I read about a kid like this and I feel better.
